Don’t Text and Drive

Several days ago, the Richmond Times-Dispatch’s Tyler Whitley reported on a proposal introduced by Virginia Delegate James M. Scott to ban texting while driving.

It is a shame that people do not have enough common sense already to not use their text messaging devices while driving, but unfortunately I have witnessed many people driving dangerously because they are paying attention to their gadgets instead of the roadway. While it is unclear to me if the existing law covering “Reckless Driving—Generally” would already cover texting and driving, I believe this new bill will heighten public awareness of the dangers of texting and driving.

The Low-Tech Times fully endorses Del. Scott’s proposal. There is no need to text and drive at the same time.
