I wrote a post earlier this week outlining ways to save money by canceling hi-tech services, such as cable tv, cellphone plans, etc. Kris de Decker’s Low-tech Magazine provides a link to an interesting article about a woman who doesn’t use centralized heat, watch tv, or drive a car:

Some readers might think that low-tech practitioners are just a bunch of cheapskates. Is that true?
Not necessarily, I would say. Many people may avoid unnecessary hi-tech gadgets and services, but are definitely willing to spend money on worthwhile things.
For instance, my wife and I have spent a considerable amount of money on handbuilt furniture. I also believe it makes sense not to skimp when purchasing handtools.
