Clive Cussler is my favorite author. His novels often feature antique low tech vehicles and Cyclops is no exception.
Like several of Cussler’s books, Cyclops opens with the sinking of an old ship, The Cyclops. The novel also features a couple vivid scenes featuring an antique blimp. Later on, there is an exciting car chase with Dirk Pitt driving a ’57 Chevy being chased by a ZIL limosine in Cuba. In addition to the low-tech elements, there are also hi-tech themes as well, including a dramatic battle on the moon with the Russians.
Some people find Clive Cussler’s plots a bit outrageous… and they are. But in my mind, they are a pure joy to read and they are much more realistic than Harry Potter books anyhow.
I greatly enjoyed reading Cyclops, although Deep Six remains my favorite Cussler novel to date. I highly recommend Cyclops; click the ad below to order your copy from Amazon.com.
