I recommend using an aluminum snow shovel when clearing a concrete or asphalt driveway. For gravel driveways, a regular shovel is a better choice.
There is no need to clear it completely, but you can break up hard packed snow and ice and work some gravel up to the surface.
It’s also a good idea to keep a shovel in the car during bad weather.
Plowing a gravel driveway is probably the best option, but I’m not a fan of snowblowers.
