DTV Conversion Delayed Until June 12

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill to delay the conversion to digital TV until June 12th.  The conversion had been scheduled for February 17th.  Just last week, the House rejected a bill to delay the conversion.

The Senate has already passed the bill to delay the conversion and President Obama is certain to sign the bill since he favors the delay.

The conversion has not run smoothly.  Millions of dollars have been invested in advertising the February 17th date, but the government ran out of money for DTV converter box coupons.   The delay will likely allow more people to recieve coupons.  However, the funding for the additional coupons is contained in the economic stimulus package, which is not likely to immediately pass.
