Last week, I recommended Bill Monroe’s Bean Blossom album as a good introduction to traditional bluegrass music.

This week, I’m recommending a highly entertaining and informational DVD about bluegrass music entitled High Lonesome – The Story of Bluegrass Music. I have an old VHS edition of this video which my friends and I watched many times. The video is chock-full of great music and stories. High Lonesome features Bill Monroe, Mac Wiseman, the Stanley Brothers, Earl Scruggs, Jim & Jesse and many more top artists. While the DVD often features only portions of songs, a separate CD of complete songs is available from Amazon.com:
