Virginia’s Rail Heritage Events
The Rockbridge Weekly and Alleghany Journal highlights National Train Day events celebrating Virginia’s rail heritage. One interesting event in particular is that the Norfolk and Western Class J number 611 (my favorite steam locomotive) will be moved out of the Virginia Museum of Transportation to the O. Winston Link Museum.
While not the same as steaming under her own power, I’m glad that she’ll be moving again, albeit sounding like she is gasping for air. Here’s a scene posted on Youtube by Manokiller of 611 being towed back from a prior event.
