The Grand Ole Opry Song

Music Mondays

In case you haven’t heard, the severe flooding around Nashville has closed the Grand Ole Opry. So this week, I’ll feature the Grand Ole Opry Song sung by Jimmy Martin.

The song is on the original Will the Circle Be Unbroken album. I previously recommended Bill Monroe’s Bean Blossom album as a great introduction to bluegrass. I also highly recommend The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s Will the Circle Be Unbroken album as another great introduction to bluegrass. In addition to bluegrass, the album also features the great country singer Roy Acuff and the great folk guitarist and singer, Doc Watson. The album also features one of my very favorite bluegrass songs of all time, My Walkin’ Shoes.

Years ago, my parents took me to the Grand Ol’ Opry and it was a great show that featured Roy Acuff, Skeeter Davis, and Porter Wagoner. I hope the Opry bounces back from the flood quickly!
