Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings on A Prairie Home Companion

Music Mondays

The humor on A Prairie Home Companion often misses the mark, but the show frequently features good music. The show’s host is Garrison Keiller, who can also be heard on public radio with his Author’s Almanac segments.

Last week, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings appeared on the program, which was broadcast from the Barns of Wolftrap in Virginia. An interesting news item revealed during the program was that Gillian and Dave have been in Nashville, TN recently working on a new album.

Highlights from the program were Someone Like You (segment 2), which I’d never heard them perform before, and a great version of Sweet Tooth (segment 3) with piano and fiddle. The radio program archives can be accessed here.
