There are a couple of railfan events going on this coming week in the eastern United States.
2010 National Railroad Historic Society Convention
This year’s convention, entitled Endless Mountain Rails is taking place in Northeast Pennsylvania from June 22-26, 2010. The event is open to NRHS members.
2010 West Virginia Rail Fest
The 2010 West Virginia Rail Fest will be held in Petersburg, WV from June 25 through June 27, 2010:
Coming June 25-27, 2010, the sounds of steam whistles, the clickety-clack of steel wheels on rails, the smell of coal smoke and the excitement from children of all ages will take over Petersburg, WV. This quaint American town is located in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. Thousands of train lovers will ascend on Petersburg nestled in the heart of the Appalachia Mountains. The weekend theme will be Trains, Trains, Trains!
Unfortunately, the event will not feature Western Maryland #734 as originally planned; however, there will still be steam excursions and even opportunities to run a steam engine. I am going to try to attend this festival and hopefully will report back next week with photos and videos.
