The new fall TV season is about to get underway. Based on last year, the best comedies on TV are on channels broadcast over-the-air for free.

The Best Comedies on TV

1. Modern Family (ABC) — We think this is the best consistently funny show
2. The Office (NBC) — Often great, but some episodes are better than others
3. Parks ‘n’ Rec (NBC) — Pretty bad the first season, but has gotten a lot better
4. Raising Hope (FOX) — At times too silly, but can be good
5. The Middle (ABC) — Best comedy family show

Recommended TV Antenna for Free TV

What you’ll be able to pick up over-the-air will depend on your location, but I highly recommend trying out an antenna to see what you can pick up. The fact that the best comedies are available on over-the-air television provides yet another reason to cancel expensive cable tv subscriptions and go back to low-tech over-the-air tv viewing.
