Riding the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad (DSNGRR) was one of the highlights of our Colorado vacation. Today the DSNGRR operates vintage steam trains on the scenic section of the former Durango and Rio Grande Railway between Durango and Silverton, Colorado. The Highline section along steep cliffs was simply incredible (pictured above).
Before departing Silverton for the return trip to Durango, Low-Tech Times editor S.P. Gass discussed operations with the crew (pictured below). The DSNGRR owns ten steam locomotives, seven of which are currently operational.
