Music Mondays
Listening to BluegrassCountry.org the other evening, I heard a neat song called Come On Up to the House recorded by Sarah Jarosz. The original version of Come On Up to the House is by Tom Waits.
Does life seem nasty, brutish and short?
Come on up to the house.
The seas are stormy,
and you can’t find no port;
come on up to the house.
Come on up to the house.
Come on up to the house.
The world is not my home;
I’m just a passin’ through.
Come on up to the house.
Train Tuesdays
I believe there was some concern earlier about the car float permanently closing, but now Delmarva.com reports that the old railroad car float is being repaired:
NORFOLK — Repairs are underway to the barge that ferries railroad cars between Cape Charles and Little Creek…
The car float in 2008 made the trip across the bay 38 times, about every 10 days, carrying 13-14 cars each time. It can carry up to 25 cars, depending on their weight and length.
The 26-mile water route takes about 12 hours for a round trip, LeMond said. It is the longest railroad water route in the United States and has been in operation since 1885…

Today’s featured song is Walking On the Blue Ridge Mountains – Blue Sparks by Larry Sparks. I heard it on the Bluegrass Country radio last week. This is a great song… the only thing I’d change is that it sounds like it has an electric bass
.
I saw Larry Sparks a few years back at the State Theatre in Falls Church, Virginia. It was a fine show.
Soon I’ll reach the old log cabin,
in the distance up ahead.
I’ll be home in the Blue Ridge Mountains,
where I’ll rest my weary head.
Walkin’ on the Blue Ridge Mountains,
walkin’ on, walkin’ on.
Walkin’ on the Blue Ridge Mountains,
walkin’ to my Blue Ridge home…
