Save Money By Canceling Cable
If you are a sports junkie, I can understand paying for subscription cable or satellite tv service. But if you’re a casual sports viewer who mainly enjoys watching the big game, then you can save a lot of money by watching free over-the-air tv.
Last evening I enjoyed watching the final four games for free on CBS. Major sporting events are typically shown on broadcast television. Recent sports coverage I’ve watched for free includes:
- The Super Bowl
- The World Series
- NCAA Football Championship Game
- NCAA Basketball Final Four Games
- U.S. Open Tennis Finals
- Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Gold Medal Game
- The Kentucky Derby
- The Preakness
- Belmont Stakes
- and many, many more…
I look forward to watching the Duke–Butler NCAA Championship Game. I still have to decide who to root for. I’ve pulled for Duke since watching the incredible ending of 1992 East Regional Final game with the Christian Laettner’s buzzer beater shot after the long inbound pass from Grant Hill. However, I also generally like rooting for underdogs and Butler would certainly qualify.
If you have an old tv, you’ll need a converter box and possibly a new antenna. If you have a newer flatscreen set, you’ll just need an antenna:
